Our organization had its beginnings in 1983, with a group of people meeting to support one another because they or their family members had symptoms of what was then known as Chronic Epstein Barr Syndrome. Two years later the Association was incorporated and dedicated to providing education, support, and advocacy for those with this condition.
To recognize those origins, in 2023 we launched MassME@40. This two-year campaign aspired to:
- Celebrate our history
- Raise awareness of ME/CFS and other infection-associated chronic illnesses
- Grow our membership so we can move into our fifth decade stronger than ever
Please watch the video above to take a very quick trip through those forty years of history, against a background of the shifting views and narratives around this complex illness.
