Volunteer
Most of the work done by the Massachusetts ME/CFS & FM Association is done by volunteers working from home, during times of their choosing. If you are a healthy family member or friend we especially need your help.
We have three broad classes of volunteers:
Board members
Board members are principally engaged in governance, fundraising, strategic planning, and staff/volunteer oversight. The Board sets and monitors compliance with policy, produces the Annual Meeting, coordinates activities with national organizations, ensures compliance with all state and federal obligations and filings, manages all financial activities and transactions, and represents the Association in all official capacities. Individuals interested in learning more about Board service are encouraged to read the document entitled Interested in Board Service (PDF).
Program volunteers
Program volunteers make a commitment of six months or more to take on responsibilities that are central to our mission, such as
- Conducting health care provider referrals and/or disability counseling
- Supporting our Sunday Conversations program
- Facilitating a support group
- Managing a social media platform
- Conducting legislative advocacy
- Producing educational materials
Ad-hoc volunteers
Ad-hoc volunteers are unable to make a firm commitment of time to the Association but wish to help when they are able. Their work can be as time-limited as attending a single meeting remotely with a state legislator or as open-ended as creating artwork that adorns our thank you cards to donors. Ad-hoc volunteers also help out, as needed, with the Annual Meeting or other events we may hold throughout the year.
If you would like to help in these or in any other ways, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form.
