In this edition of Sunday Conversations, we’ll hear from several experienced support group leaders/facilitators about the experiences they have had in this role and why they are so enthusiastic about what they do. How can a support group help you and what can you expect if you join one?  Providing support to patients and caregivers is a key component of our mission; let’s learn more about it!

About the panel:

• Denise Lopez-Majano is a parent and caregiver for her two now adult sons who have had ME since they were nearly 12 and 15 years old. They got sick in 2005 and 2006. Denise has been involved in ME advocacy since 2007 as a way of channeling her frustration and anger about the “state of things ME” and because she wants to be part of helping make a difference in the lives of people with ME (and other IACCIs) and those who care about and care for them. One of Denise’s ongoing activities is facilitating a monthly support call for caregivers of people with ME and other IACCIs.
• Kerry Lang leads the Northeast Regional Meet-up group for patients for MassME. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, her work is focused on people with ME/CFS, Covid Long-Haulers, or Lyme Disease. Her goal is to support others with chronic illness through the healing power of creative expression.
• Kim Moy has been a caregiver for more than 20 years for her husband living with ME and has led the monthly partner caregiver support group for #MEAction since 2019. Through this journey, she discovered her calling as a caregiving coach and founded Caregiver Wisdom. As a board-certified health & wellness coach, she helps caregivers build resilience, live with ambiguous loss, and navigate change. • Lisa Espiritu is a 35+ year ME survivor with extensive experience as both a chronic illness support group leader and a bereavement group facilitator. She has two adult sons and one granddaughter and lives in San Diego, California.
